Sam Rayburn Independent School District was created in 1964 with the consolidation of North Fannin and Telephone Schools. The present facility is on land donated to the District by Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Steele. The bell is from the North Fannin School.

This bell was originally at North Fannin School.  Sam Rayburn ISD first started in 1964 with the consolidation of North Fannin and Telephone Schools.  The land the school sits on was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Sydney Steele.

Mr. Jim Shaw

Mr. Shaw graduated from Mabank High School in 1984.

He received his B.A. in Social Studies and Language Arts in 1994 from East Texas State University and his M.A. in Education from Texas A&M/Commerce in 2000. Mr. Shaw comes to Sam Rayburn after fourteen years at Ector ISD. He was a secondary teacher for six years and was the school principal for the last eight. Mr. Shaw has a wife, Tammie, and two children, Kassie and Will.

 

He looks forward to working with the students, faculty, and parents in creating the best possible learning environment for the children of Sam Rayburn ISD.

Mrs. Johnston has worked at Sam Rayburn for 21 years as the elementary secretary. Before working here, she was a secretary for an insurance company and a loan officer. She graduated from Sam Rayburn and then went on to East Texas State University where she received her secretary certificate. Mrs. Johnston has been married to Mike for 31 years. They have two children and three grandchildren.
